Interview Prep Is Now Careers & Leadership: Why We Renamed the Page
For most of this site’s life, /interview-prep/ did exactly what its name said: Irish school leadership interviews, UK school leadership interviews, and the Get the Job series for professional careers. Then, across a run of updates this month, we added New Manager To Succeed, First Lead To Succeed, Coach Anyone To Succeed and Executive Team Coaching To Succeed — four books about workplace leadership and team coaching that have nothing to do with sitting in front of an interview panel.
The Name Stopped Fitting
We folded those four titles into the same page rather than building a disproportionate new series page for what was, at first, one small category. That was the right call for the site’s structure, but it left the page’s own name undersized for what it actually contained: fifteen guides split roughly evenly between getting the job and doing the job once you have it.
Why We Didn’t Just Rename It Overnight
This page has real search history — it is indexed, it is crawled, and other pages and blog posts on this site link to it by its old address. Renaming a URL without a proper redirect breaks that history: search engines lose the page’s ranking, and anyone who bookmarked or linked to the old address gets a dead end. So this wasn’t a five-minute find-and-replace. It is a full redirect from the old address to the new one, with every internal link on the site — navigation, footer, cross-sell cards, other blog posts — updated to point at the new address directly, so nothing on the site itself ever depends on the redirect firing.
Careers & Leadership
The new name is deliberately broad enough to cover both halves honestly: interview preparation for people trying to get a specific job, and leadership and team-coaching skills for people figuring out how to do a job well once they have it. Nothing about the books themselves changed — same content, same categories, same fifteen titles. Only the page’s name and address now describe what is actually on it.
