The Wild Atlantic Way is Ireland's official signposted coastal touring route — roughly 2,500km from Kinsale, Co. Cork to Malin Head, Co. Donegal. It was built as a driving route, which makes a campervan one of the most natural ways to see it. Until now, none of our Travel Guides had been written specifically for that way of travelling.

Written for the Vehicle, Not Just the Road
A car guide and a campervan guide are not the same book. A campervan needs to know where it can actually park overnight, which car parks have height barriers, and which of Ireland's narrower mountain passes it simply will not fit down. This book carries dedicated "Can My Campervan Fit?" warnings at three of the route's tightest and most infamous roads — the Healy Pass, the Ballaghbeama Gap and the Ballaghisheen Pass — rather than leaving a larger vehicle to find out the hard way.
An Honest Picture of Wild Camping
Wild camping rules and realities vary county by county along the Wild Atlantic Way, and the book sets them out plainly rather than assuming one blanket answer covers the whole route. It is also specific about a detail that catches a lot of first-time visitors out: several of the "campsites" marked along the way are actually Certificated Locations — small sites that are members-only, not open to anyone who simply turns up. The book flags these correctly rather than sending a reader to a gate they can't get through.

Real current campsites, honest county-by-county wild camping notes, fuel and service-point detail, and several trip-length planning options depending on how much of the route a reader has time for — a long weekend, a fortnight, or the full length from Cork to Donegal in one trip.

Like the rest of the series, where a fact wasn't confirmed, we said so rather than filling the gap — and where a road genuinely isn't suitable for a bigger vehicle, we said that too.
