Scuba Diving Great Britain: Scapa Flow's Wrecks, the Farne Islands' Seals and Cornwall's Reefs
Scuba Diving Great Britain is the direct sequel to Scuba Diving Ireland, our thirteenth Travel Guide, and it picks up exactly where that book stopped: England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland stays where it already was, covered in full inside the Ireland title, so the two books divide the whole of the British Isles between them without overlap.
Scapa Flow and the Scuttled Fleet
The book's centrepiece is Scapa Flow in Orkney, where the interned German High Seas Fleet was scuttled by its own crews in June 1919 rather than handed over — still one of the most significant wreck-diving sites anywhere in the world, with real named wrecks and real, sourced depths rather than vague "several wrecks lie here" language. The salvage history that followed, much of it led by the engineer Ernest Cox through the 1920s and 30s, gets its own honest treatment.
The Farne Islands and Cornwall
Away from the wrecks, the book covers living dive sites too — the Farne Islands off Northumberland, home to one of England's largest grey seal colonies and a genuinely playful, well-documented dive, and Cornwall's reefs, with their own basking shark and marine-life detail. Thirteen regional chapters in total carry the reader from Scotland's northern isles down through England's coasts to Wales.

This book follows the same discipline the Ireland title set: real depth, visibility and skill-level information for named sites, an honest account of Great Britain's recompression-chamber coverage and how it has changed, and no invented quotes or manufactured reviews standing in for genuine site detail. Where a fact couldn't be pinned down or a source disagreed, the book says so rather than printing a confident-sounding guess.
