Scotland by Campervan & Motorhome: A Guide Written for Your Van, Not Your Rental Car
Scotland by Campervan & Motorhome is now available on Amazon. It is the second campervan guide in our Travel Guides series, after Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, and like that book it is written for the vehicle rather than for a visitor with a rental car.
Why a Van Needs Its Own Guide
A car guide will tell you what is worth seeing. A van owner also needs to know whether the road gets there, where the vehicle can stop for the night, and where the next fuel, water or waste point is. The book builds those questions into every stop, with a plain-English "Can My Van Fit?" callout wherever size or road width is a real constraint, including single-track roads, mountain passes and ferries.
Seven Regions, Stop by Stop
The guide covers the loop around the north Highlands from Inverness, the Great Glen and Glencoe, the Cairngorms and Speyside, the west coast and Argyll, Skye and the Outer Hebrides, the east and north-east coast, and the Borders and Galloway. It also includes 7, 10 and 14-day itineraries, so you can match the route to the time you have.
The Honest Picture on Overnight Parking
Scotland's access rights are often described in shorthand that does not translate neatly to motorised vehicles. The book sets out the picture as plainly as it can: what the rules generally mean for a campervan, the usual parking categories, and what to check locally before you stay anywhere.
Check Before You Go
Ferry timetables, council visitor-levy schemes, campsite rules and road conditions all change. The book is written around mechanisms and a list of official sources to check, not prices that will be out of date next season, and it is an independent guide with no affiliation to any route brand or operator.
